You are a volcanologist, and you’re monitoring a number of volcanoes of the Cascade Range in Oregon and Washington. Explain what you might do on a daily/yearly basis to keep the public informed of potential danger(s) from these volcanoes. What sorts of tests would you perform? What indicators might suggest the volcanoes are, or may become, active and pose a threat? If the volcanoes were to erupt, what hazards might they pose to local communities? Lastly, what evidence might you find that gives some insight into the nature of past volcanic eruptions?
